Primero, por la sorpresa de leer un texto que me sobrecoge siempre, por la hermosa historia trágica que narra; segundo, porque, por encima de todo, acontece una suculenta historia de amor; y tercero, y no último, como pulso de una buena tragedia, siendo el ánimo paradójicamente nacido de su lectura, para mostrar que se puede amar por encima de la vida o cómo contener todo el amor que cabe en un cuchillo afilado… No quiero dar muestra de falaz poesía, sino hacer ver una obra que habla del amor, de la muerte, del viaje, temas que enmarcan grandes historias que se dan dentro de la tradición teatral y literaria de nuestra fábula occidental. Fando y Lis tuvo amor, no voy a decir muerte, pero así está, latente, por no ser retomada en mi propósito creativo posteriormente, como a veces hacen muchos directores; no vive, pero no está olvidada, no muerta, como Lis… Pero, sobre todo, debo decir que me supuso un enorme viaje como creador, como amante del texto y como paciente labrador de su genial y necesario momento, pues sabemos que las tragedias se sirven lentas...
